Portrush Results

Saturday 26th July 2008

‘Eclipse’ a Beneteau First 31.7 with a mixed crew from Ballyronan Boat Club and Antrim Boat Club won the premier event in the calendar of Coleraine Yacht Club the 2008 C.Y.C. Club Regatta.

Racing on the sea between Portrush and Portstewart, Eclipse narrowly defeated the Glendinning brothers Mark and Anthony sailing a Jenneau 32i ‘Warrior’. The formidable Glendinning partnership had earlier in the year won the laser challenge event representing Lough Neagh Sailing Club at Antrim Bay .

In a fleet including Sigma 35, UFO 34, Storm 33 and others racing was close in the tricky 5 to 15 Knot alongshore wind.

The crew of the First 31.7 battled closely with the Jenneau 32i in the fluctuating conditions to emerge winners after three very close races with no discards allowed.

The Winning Crew from the front were;

Neil Patrick, Bow
(Antrim Boat Club)

Andy Speedy, Trimmer
(Antrim Boat Club) (ABC)

Liam Glavin, Winches
(Ballyronan Boat Club)

William Surgenor, Mast and halyards
